Ironman 70.3 Boulder was my first US race of the 2015 exercising season. Its always nice to sleep in your own bed, and roll out the door on race morning to the Boulder Reservoir, where this race takes place. The plan heading into this race, along with Ironman Coeur d’Alene two weeks later, was to race smart and pick up as many Kona qualifying points as possible. My day went really well, and I came away with the win. It feels surreal. To be honest, Ironman Coeur d’Alene was the focus out of these two weeks of racing. Boulder is home to a stable full of thoroughbred triathletes, so the win here is never easy and I wasn’t taking anything for granted.
